ways to make the most of the spring season

I’m not sure how you’re feeling, but I feel like winter has been lingering for much longer than 4 months. It has been a long, cold winter, and I’m more than ready for bright skies, warmer weather, and 8pm sunsets. For some, they can’t truly enjoy the weather until summer hits; however, you don’t have to wait any longer to start living every spring day to the fullest. Stick around for a few ways to make the most of the spring season this year!

Get Outside on Nice Days

I know that spring can feel like a dud of a season, as the weather isn’t always cooperative. However, you can absolutely make the most of the few months before summer hits by making an effort to get outside on the nice days.

Some days may still be rainy and cold, but others will be sunny and warm! Whether you decide to go for a walk, sit on your porch with a good book, participate in sports, or play with your dog, few things beat spending hours outside after a full season of being forced to stay inside. Get outside as much as possible — sunshine and fresh air are two underrated forms of medicine for the soul.

Do Some Spring Cleaning

When you think of spring, the idea of spring cleaning probably comes to mind. Truthfully, so many of us put off deep cleaning and organizing during the winter months; as a result, we end up with a dire need to clean up, air out, and declutter come spring. It’s not always easy to find the motivation, but home organization can give you a fresh start.

Spring is that beautiful time between the slow winter and the busy summer. In a few months, your life will probably be incredibly busy, maybe to the point where you won’t have much time to get your deep cleaning done. Utilize springtime to get these tasks done:

  • Wash windows
  • Shampoo carpet
  • Mop hard floors
  • Clean baseboards
  • Clean upholstery
  • Clean under furniture & appliances
  • Refresh curtains
  • Dust light fixtures
  • Do paint touch ups
  • Declutter closets, drawers, & cabinets
  • Clean out the garage
  • Gutter maintenance
  • Power wash house exterior
  • Spruce up landscaping
  • Do any necessary interior & exterior repairs
Host a Dinner Party

It’s no secret that most people tend to isolate more during the winter months. It’s cold out, the weather is often dangerous, and honestly, there’s just not much going on. You can mark the new season by hosting a dinner party! It doesn’t have to be fancy; in fact, a simple backyard BBQ may be exactly what you, your friends, and your family need to shake off the long winter.

Spring is all about newness, fresh starts, and growth. If one of your goals this year is to host more or to spend more time with the people you love, hosting a spring dinner party is an excellent way to do that!

Pro Tip: Consider co-hosting with a friend or family member if hosting alone feels overwhelming!

Do Some Spring Crafts or Decorating

One thing about me is that I love a craft. Crafting is one of my top hobbies, and I’m super excited to do some spring crafts. If you’re not into crafting, consider refreshing your home decor to really embrace the spring colors and aesthetic.

A true bonus is doing a craft that also doubles as home decor. Whether it be painting something for your living room, creating a spring themed garland, putting together an artificial flower arrangement for a centerpiece, or making a spring welcome sign for your front door, creating something can help you lean into the spring season!

I know spring isn’t nearly as exciting as summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it using these ways to make the most of the spring season. Even if the weather isn’t great or you don’t feel motivated to do anything special, spring is a beautiful time for growth, setting yourself up for success, and spending time with those you love.
